The Company

Simon Powell Commercial is a small independent practice based in the lovely market town of Tavistock in Devon, on the edge of Dartmoor and just North of Plymouth.  Established in 1997 the company has grown gradually over the years and there is now a need for an additional surveyor to help with the professional and agency work.

The company undertakes a variety of commercial property consultancy and management work advising a wide range of clients from National firms to small local businesses. Mainly working in West Devon and North and East Cornwall, the firm covers the whole of the South West when required.

JOB VACANCIES

Title: Commercial Property Surveyor

The role

Ideally the successful candidate will be suitably experienced in a range of commercial property consultancy skills with probably ten or more years post qualification experience. You will be required to take on existing work and ideally have some of your own clients already. The short to medium term goal is for someone to take over the running of the business. However, if you see this as the place for you we are open to consider other candidates who could achieve the same end result.

Skills and Qualifications:

The following skills and qualifications are required for this role:

  •        RICS membership is necessary.

  •        A proven track record in advising on commercial property.

  •        Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.

  •        A desire to provide the best service possible to our clients

  •        Ability to work on your own including good computer skills.

  •        A full UK driving licence is essential.

Salary and Benefits:

We do not have a fixed candidate in mind.  We would also consider a part time role in the short to medium term. Pay will be appropriate to the experience of the candidate and ideally some form of base salary and profit share is envisaged.

Holidays and other benefits are all up for discussion depending on the candidate but will be in line with the industry norm.

Title: Property Manager

The role

The candidate will ideally have property management experience, but the key skills are to be very well organised, computer literate and confident in dealing with both clients and tenants to sort out issues and problems that arise.

Duties to include but not limited to:

  • Respond to landlords and tenants’ issues where possible

  • Organise and maintain relationship with suitable contractors

  • Undertake property inspections

  • Arrange repairs, cleaning, etc as necessary

  • Organise insurance and utilities as required

  • Prepare marketing particulars and organise web site advertising

 Essential Skills:

  • At least 10 years’ experience in an administration or similar role

  • A professional attitude and the ability to work on your own

  • Highly organised with meticulous attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Microsoft Office IT literacy

 Desired skills (but training can be given):

  • Previous experience in a property related role would be an advantage but not essential.

  • Knowledge of property construction would be an advantage but not essential.

  • A full driving licence and access to own transport is required.

 Hours and Salary:

37.5 hours a week, Monday to Friday

Starting salary 26,715 per annum plus benefits
